Black Peak Cycles was first opened by Doug Hamilton back in 1991. Before settling in Wanaka Doug spent most of his tool time working on and racing dirt bikes, then switched to mountain bikes in 1989. Spending so much time from the birth of the sport and being involved so long, has given this master mechanic a knack for solving even the hardest challenges on the bike stand.

Doug has ridden all over the world and also has a travel business, Black Peak Travel, that offers guided bike trips.

Nestled in the quiet Cliff Wilson Street, Black Peak Cycles has a selection of quality mountain bikes and e-MTB’s to test ride and buy. You’ll find brands like Mondraker, Scott, Rocky Mountain, Norco, Marin and Merida, as well as a great stocks of everyday parts and accessories.
